Scholarship Information

Each year, the Trust offers scholarships to up to three East Timorese students who wish to study at a UK university. There are two scholarships at Westminster University and one at London Metropolitan University. We hope to expand the choice of institutions at which we are able to offer scholarships and welcome enquiries both from institutions who wish to work in partnership with us and from potential scholars whose chosen course of study is not currently available at one of our existing partner universities.

Applications, which must be made on the correct form, are accepted between March 1st and 31st October each year.  We are not able to process new applications at present.

To be eligible for a scholarship, for an Ai-Kameli scholarship, candidates must

  • Be East Timorese nationals
  • Resident outside the UK
  • Have a IELTS score of 5.5 or above or demonstrate an equivalent level of proficiency in English
  • Propose a course of study has demonstrable benefit/relevance to the development of East Timor

Preference will be given to applicants for undergraduate degrees, though applications for postgraduate degrees will be considered.

Please note that are unable to support applications to study for a PhD.
